What is a .aero Domain Name?

.aero is a top level domain created exclusively for the aviation community. It works just like the more traditional .com, .net or .org domains but because it is new, there are vastly more available domain names that can be registered. Aviation entities such as airlines and private companies are quickly registering .aero domains and using them for their email and web sites.

Who qualifies to register a .aero?

Companies, organizations and individuals, recognized as members of the aviation community, holding .aero Membership ID or Aviation Community Membership ID issued by SITA can register domain names.

• domain cannot begin or end with a hyphen '-' symbol
• no two-letter domain names (all are reserved at this time)
• no underscores '_' symbols are allowed
• domain name should be related to your company name, identity, or trademark

How the .aero registration process works:

1. The first step in registering your .aero domain name is to request an Aviation Community Membership ID. This ID will be required to begin the registration process. If you have not yet received this code, please visit http://www.information.aero/index.php?id=506 to request your .aero ID.
2. If you have an Aviation Community Membership ID, search for a domain through our search tool.
3. Once the domain name registration(s) is complete, we will notify you by confirmation email.
